About the Alliance Française de Kumasi

The Alliance Française de Kumasi, established 70 years ago, is part of an international network of over 1,100 Alliances and affiliated cultural centers worldwide. It is the oldest and second largest Alliance Française in Ghana. Our history includes a long list of prominent Ghanaians, dating from our founding in 1956, who have served on our Board of Directors, as former ambassador of Ghana in France Dr Owusu Sarpong.

Our home, which is open to the public, is comprised of two renovated vintage buildings connected by an intimate courtyard garden. This beautiful oasis in the heart ofthe historical Trades Union Congress (T.U.C.) in Kumasi which provides the perfect setting for our diverse programs and events.

We are an independently financed non-profit institution. As such, we must raise nearly half our operating budget from donations and fundraising activities.

More About Us

Influential members of the Kumasi community founded Alliance Française Kumasi to foster cross-cultural dialogue and promote Francophone culture. Its French language centre, established in 1956, offers classes for all ages and levels, from beginners to advanced conversation. We create the link between the countries of Francophonie including Ghana.

As part of a global network of over 800 chapters across 132 countries, Alliance Française Kumasi hosts Francophone community.

Mission Statement

Our mission at Alliance Française Kumasi is to promote, share, and celebrate the French language and Francophone cultures through engaging classes, as well as intellectual and artistic exchanges between Ghana and the French-speaking world. We strive to foster collaboration and friendship among French speakers and learners, building a vibrant community passionate about the French language and culture.
